THE JOURNEY
THE JOURNEY
From Oamaru, lupin season becomes more than a lakeside flower stop: it is a full day gradually travelling into Mackenzie Country. As North Otago’s valleys and open farmland give way to broad lake-country views, the scenery keeps unfolding along the road. We choose places to pause according to the season as it actually appears, the weather and access—not a promised field or guaranteed flower count. The return journey is longer than the Tekapō departure, making the changing landscapes along the way part of the experience. Photos shown here are from previous seasons and are for seasonal reference only.
THE PACE
A longer day than the Tekapō departure, with driving and photo stops balanced around your priorities.
