THE JOURNEY

THE JOURNEY

In my view, lupin season is one of the most beautiful times of year to explore Mackenzie Country. Setting out from Tekapō, spend the day following the colours of the lake country: waves of pink, violet and blue flowers framed by clear water, open skies and distant mountains. The loveliest moments are often between the familiar viewpoints—a quiet lakeshore, a bend in the road, or flowers catching the evening light. Bloom timing, abundance, exact fields and access change with the weather and conditions each year, so the day follows what is actually in bloom rather than promising a particular spot. The photographs shown here are from past seasons; a sunset extension is only discussed when conditions and Shine confirm it.
